Scholarships and Aid
Be proactive about scholarships and financial aid.
Did you know that many academic departments have their own scholarships? When you visit campus, ask about what scholarships are available and how to be considered. Be sure to complete your FAFSA and UNI Scholarship Form annually to be considered for scholarships awarded at the university and department level.
UNI STEM Scholarships
High School students who choose to dedicate effort to extracurricular STEM activities are taking an extra step to prepare for their future. The UNI STEM Scholarships honor this by providing a scholarship opportunity to future panthers who participate in these state/regional STEM Competitions to apply for the UNI STEM Scholarship during their Junior year of high school:
- Iowa Regional - FIRST Robotics Competition
- State of Iowa Physics Competition
- State Science & Technology Fair of Iowa
STEM Scholarships
ISGC 1st Year Merit
Iowa Space Grant Consortium 1st Year Merit Scholarships are awarded to students who have graduated from an Iowa High School and will attend the University of Northern Iowa or another ISGC Academic Affiliate as a 1st year student in a STEM field. Applications generally take place in the spring and early summer.
ISGC Undergraduate Research
The Iowa Space Grant Consortium Undergraduate STEM Research Scholarship Program awards scholarships to UNI and other ISGC affiliate undergraduates who will complete an academic year research project, related to a NASA interest area, during the next year. UNI students should complete the application with their mentor. Feel free to reach out to STEM Coordinator, Marcy Seavey, if you have questions about how to connect your project to NASA.
