Science Education Update Conference
The Science Education Update Conference is a UNI tradition for Iowa science teachers. The conference will include breakout sessions on current science and pedagogy topics, hands-on workshops, a keynote, exhibits and lunch.
A limited number of substitute stipends are available to early registrations. Come network with fellow educators and preservice educators!
Iowa's Geological Resources for Teachers Workshop Course
An online component in the spring prepares you for the hands-on workshop visiting various geological sites and preparing curricular materials in July. Earn 2 graduate credits for a reduced cost thanks to support from the Iowa Limestone producers.
- Develop rock & mineral collections.
- Focus on understanding and interpreting Earth’s history and the geology of Iowa.
- Learn the economic and environmental aspects of Iowa geology.
RCEDE
The Regent's Center for Early Developmental Education offers check-out of early childhood STEM curriculum materials including games and activities. UNI students, faculty and Pre-K-2 educators may check out materials for children age 3-8. The Center also offers a variety of professional development workshops. YSERO
Yager Science Education Resources and Outreach is coordinated by science education faculty and staff and operated by students, including those who will be future science teachers. This entity provides science curriculum resources and outreach for UNI students and faculty and to teachers and students in schools.
CEEE
Home of Green Iowa Americorps and Sustainable Schools, the Center for Energy and Environmental Education provides resources to communities throughout Iowa to implement evidence-based solutions to community problems.
CTLM
The Center for Teaching and Learning mathematics applies research-based strategies to improving mathematics education. CTLM supports teachers, students and parents to make sense of mathematics.

In partnership with Waterloo Community Schools, faculty and student panelists from UNI's biology, chemistry and biochemistry, public health, communication sciences & disorders, and kinesiology departments presented a 1.5 hour panel on health and medical careers for secondary counselors and teachers.
