2026 UNI STEM Camps open for Registration!

The University of Northern Iowa offers STEM summer camps for area youth, with topics ranging from robotics to biotechnology.

  • Introduction to Robotics is for students who are beginners in coding and/or building robots. Campers use Spike Prime Robots and paired programming strategies to solve a series of beginner level missions.
  • Intermediate Robotics camp has a prerequisite of either having completed introduction to robotics or having experience coding as a part of FLL. Campers should be comfortable with basic block coding.
  • The Quantumverse is a quantum physics camp. Participants will learn about quantum physics and perform hands-on experiments that will give insight into the quantum nature of physical reality. Participants will also learn about aspects of quantum information systems and quantum computing.
  • Biotech: Tools of the Trade camp is an immersive experience with tools of biotechnology, providing campers with an introduction to the techniques that are used in university, hospital, and industrial laboratories. Campers will gain hands-on experience with DNA extraction, culturing microbes, digital microscopy, polymerase chain reaction, and gel electrophoresis by performing their own experiments. Campers will work at their own pace, no experience required.
